A typical northern winter scene. Two caribou have spotted you and are keeping an eye on you. They are in the middle of a frozen lake huddling together for safety. Often as I drive around in winter I will see piles of caribou droppings in the middle of a frozen river or lake. Sometimes I will see the caribou there. They can see predators coming towards them far more effectively when they stand on a frozen lake so have ample time to take action.
